Setting up email on your phone (IMAP)
Connect your cPanel mailbox to iPhone Mail or Android in a few minutes using IMAP — with the exact server names, ports and SSL settings from cPanel.
Once you've created a mailbox at your own domain, you can read and send that email from your phone. This guide shows where to find the exact settings in cPanel and the typical values for iPhone Mail and Android. If you haven't made a mailbox yet, start with creating email accounts.
IMAP vs POP — use IMAP
IMAP keeps your messages on the server and mirrors every folder to each device, so a message you read on your phone also shows as read on your laptop. POP instead downloads mail to a single device and can delete it from the server, which makes messages disappear elsewhere. For phones — and for anyone using more than one device — always choose IMAP.
Step 1 — Find your settings in cPanel
Open Email Accounts in cPanel and click Connect Devices next to your mailbox. cPanel shows the exact IMAP and SMTP server names, ports and SSL settings for that account. For a standard Internext mailbox they follow the pattern below.
Step 2 — Typical IMAP settings
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Account type | IMAP |
| Incoming (IMAP) server | mail.yourdomain.com |
| Incoming port / security | 993 (SSL/TLS) |
| Outgoing (SMTP) server | mail.yourdomain.com |
| Outgoing port / security | 465 (SSL/TLS) |
| Username | Your full email address, e.g. [email protected] |
| Password | The mailbox password you set in cPanel |
| SMTP authentication | Required — same username and password |
yourdomain.com with your actual domain. Always use the SSL ports 993 and 465 so your login and mail are encrypted — never the plain ports 143 or 25.Step 3 — Add the account on iPhone
- Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other.
- Tap Add Mail Account and enter your name, full email address and password.
- Choose IMAP, then enter
mail.yourdomain.comas both the incoming and outgoing host name, with your full email address as the username. - Tap Save. iPhone verifies the settings and adds the account.
Step 4 — Add the account on Android
- Open Gmail (or your mail app), tap your profile, then Add another account → Other.
- Enter your full email address and choose Personal (IMAP).
- Enter the incoming server
mail.yourdomain.comon port993and the outgoing server on port465, both with SSL. - Finish setup and let the account sync.
mail.yourdomain.com on port 465 with SSL and that authentication is turned on using your full email address.Frequently asked
What are my username and password?
The username is always your full email address, such as [email protected], and the password is the mailbox password you set in cPanel. Both are shown under Connect Devices.
Do these settings work with Outlook too?
Yes. The same IMAP server, ports and SSL settings work in Outlook, Apple Mail and most desktop clients — just enter them in the manual/advanced setup screen.
