Creating email accounts
The focused mechanics of adding a mailbox in cPanel — enter the address, set a strong password, pick a storage quota, then delete, resize or reset it whenever you need to.
Every Internext hosting plan lets you create email accounts at your own domain directly in cPanel. This guide covers the exact steps to add a mailbox in Email Accounts, then how to reset its password, change its storage quota or delete it later. If you want the wider picture — Webmail, forwarders and connecting your devices — start with our companion guide on setting up business email.
Step 1 — Open Email Accounts and click Create
Log in to cPanel, scroll to the Email section and click Email Accounts. This screen lists every mailbox on your domain. Click the + Create button at the top right to start a new one.
Step 2 — Enter the email address
In the Username field, type the part that comes before the @ — for example info, sales or your own name. If you host more than one domain, choose the correct one from the domain dropdown so the address reads [email protected].
Step 3 — Set or generate a strong password
- Type a password in the Password box, or click Generate for a strong random one.
- Aim for at least 12 characters with a mix of letters, numbers and symbols — the strength meter turns green when it's secure.
- Save the password in your password manager, because you'll need it on every device.
Step 4 — Choose a storage quota
Under Storage Space, set a quota in megabytes (for example 2048 MB) or select Unlimited if your plan allows it. You can also expand Optional Settings to enable Automatically Create Folders for Plus Addressing, which sorts tagged mail such as [email protected] into its own folder. Click Create — the mailbox is live immediately.
Step 5 — Delete, resize or reset a mailbox
Back on the Email Accounts list, click Manage next to any account to:
- Reset the password — enter a new one under Security and click Update Email Settings.
- Resize the quota — raise or lower the Storage Space value; increasing it never deletes existing mail.
- Delete the mailbox — scroll to Delete Email Account. This permanently removes the account and all its stored messages, so back up anything important first.
Frequently asked
How do I reset a mailbox password?
Open Email Accounts, click Manage next to the mailbox, enter a new strong password and save. The change applies to Webmail and every connected device right away.
Can I change the storage quota later?
Yes. Use Manage to raise or lower the Storage Space value any time. Increasing the quota is instant and never removes existing email.
