Creating cPanel accounts in WHM
As an Internext reseller you use WHM to create and manage each client's cPanel account — set the domain, username, password and package, then modify, suspend or terminate accounts as your business grows.
With an Internext reseller plan you get WHM (Web Host Manager) — the control panel that sits above cPanel. WHM is where you create a separate cPanel account for every customer, assign each one a hosting package, and manage their lifecycle. Your clients only ever see their own cPanel; you keep full control from WHM. This guide covers creating an account and the everyday management tasks that follow.
Step 1 — Log in to WHM
Sign in to WHM with your reseller username and password, usually at yourserver.com/whm or via the link in your Internext welcome email. WHM looks busier than cPanel, but you'll spend most of your time in just a few tools under Account Functions.
Step 2 — Open Create a New Account
Use the search box at the top left of WHM and type Create a New Account, then open it. This single form provisions a complete cPanel account for your client.
Step 3 — Enter domain and login details
- Enter the client's domain (for example
clientsite.com). - Set a username — WHM suggests one from the domain, which you can keep.
- Set a strong password, or use the generator, and add the client's email so WHM can send them the details.
Step 4 — Choose a hosting package
A package defines the account's limits — disk space, bandwidth, and the number of email accounts, databases and subdomains. Pick the package that matches the plan your client bought. If you haven't built one yet, open Add a Package under Packages first, set your feature and resource limits, then come back and create the account.
Step 5 — Create the account
Click Create. WHM sets up the cPanel account, creates its DNS zone and emails the login details to your client. The account is ready immediately — your customer can log in to their own cPanel, upload their site or start a WordPress install.
Managing accounts after creation
From WHM's Account Functions you can manage the whole lifecycle of each account:
- Modify an Account — change the domain, contact email or assigned package (great for upgrades and downgrades).
- Suspend or Unsuspend an Account — temporarily block access, for example for non-payment, without deleting any data. Unsuspend restores it instantly.
- Terminate an Account — permanently delete the account and all its data. Always take a backup first.
- Upgrade/Downgrade an Account — switch a client to a different package in one step.
Frequently asked
Can I let clients log in without seeing WHM?
Yes. Clients only ever access their own cPanel at theirdomain.com/cpanel. WHM is yours alone. To make their cPanel show your brand instead of Internext, see branding your reseller hosting.
How many accounts can I create?
It depends on your reseller plan's resource limits. You can create accounts up to the total disk and bandwidth your plan allows; upgrade any time as you grow.
